TOMMY MACDONALD (B. 1994)
Tommy Macdonald is an Irish-born artist and illustrator working in Birmingham, UK.
His illustration practice is rooted in a time when things were done by hand. Mid-century illustrators such as Austin Briggs, Bernie Fuchs, Robert Weaver have been pillars of inspiration, both technically and philosophically in their illustration process.
He encompasses a similar approach by using traditional media and mark-making, often welcoming happy accidents and human error, adding character and giving a handmade feel to his work.
Tommy has a desire for bringing stories to life through interesting compositions and thought out picture making. He aims to enhance the viewer's experience visually by going beyond the words on the page.
